Rebecca Grossman Found Guilty of Murder in Deaths of Two Young Boys
Jury Delivers Verdict in Los Angeles County Court
Grossman Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison
LOS ANGELES, Calif. - A Los Angeles County jury has found Rebecca Grossman guilty of murder in the deaths of two young boys who were crossing a street in Westlake. The verdict was delivered on Friday, February 10, 2024, after a two-week trial.
Grossman, 54, was charged with two counts of murder, two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and one count of hit-and-run driving. The charges stemmed from a January 2020 incident in which her car struck and killed two brothers, ages 6 and 8.
The prosecution presented evidence that Grossman was driving under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs at the time of the crash. They also presented testimony from eyewitnesses who said Grossman was speeding and ran a red light.
Grossman's defense attorney argued that she was not intoxicated at the time of the crash and that the accident was caused by a mechanical failure. However, the jury rejected this defense and found Grossman guilty on all five charges.
Grossman was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Monday, June 10, 2024. The judge called the crash a "senseless tragedy" and said Grossman's actions showed "a complete disregard for human life."
